How much do you really shoot a month?

Last month I shot 275 rounds of .40S&W and 300 9MM. This month I have already shot 300 rounds of 40S&W and this week I will go thru 100 rounds of 9MM warming up for this weekends Glock Indoor Match in Norcross, Ga. My monthly average is around 500. I load two weekends a month about 400 rounds each weekend and have a good supply of ammo.

The range I go to is a static outdoor range, but it has seperate pistol and rifle ranges. The rifle range goes out to 100 yards, but you can get a target that can be placed anywhere inbetween on the range for closer shooting. The rifle range has tables to shoot from and that's about it. The pistol range has stands for targets at 25yards and stationary metal targets at 50 yards. It also has concrete walkways that mark the 15, 7, 4, and 2 yard lines. The pistol range does not have tables and if you want to shoot at your target from a closer distance you simply just walk down range more. And yes I do practice shooting from the hip, but only from the 2 yard line, because if you're further than 2 yards you have enough room and will get a better shot if you bring your weapon up. No BS I shoot about 100-200 rounds a month with my glocks, and that's it. However, every other time I go shooting I'll do some exercise, push-ups, sit-ups, whatever before I shoot to get my adrenaline going and my heart pumping. Which simulates the high stress that you would experience in real life if you were to get into a shootout. I'll also go with a few other guys in the department and we'll practice different scenarios (i.e. Shooting on the move, someone holding a hostage, night shooting). also I should mention that the range is never overly busy so we get freedom to do what we want without bothering other shooters. So without being in an expensive club, the way I shoot and train is effective, but I hope I'll never have to use it.

I'm a range nut. I reload. I shoot a lot. I started a thread like this less than a month ago but I was simply asking what others did. Several of my friends think I shoot a lot but I don't really feel like I do. I go to the range about every other Saturday and shoot rifle, shotgun, and two different pistol calibers. Now I get to add an AR15 to the mix.

You really don't know what most of us do and your post could be seen as a little rude.

I hear what the OP is saying, but if you want to try out your tactical skills. Try paint ball. This way the "BGs" are shooting back at you. Not to mention its a whole lot cheaper.

I live around 15 miles from my gun club, which sits on about 300 acres. I go weekly when possible but at least once a month unless circumstances dictate otherwise. I normally shoot at least 50 rounds and usually 100-200 rounds per visit. Depending upon who else is using the range (3 rifle, 3 pistol & 2 shotgun areas) I practice a few defensive drills if possible along with timed reloading and shooting weak hand. If "tactical" training" isn't possible, I shoot for accuracy at several distances from 10'-75' and at different size targets from standard pistol paper targets to metal, man size silhouettes. I also try to bring several guns each visit so I can maximize my time while there.

I was at the range last week with my kids and between them shooting their .22 revolvers and me firing my favorite 9mm CC gun, we went through 150 rounds (100 .22 & 50 9mm) of ammo that afternoon.

i'm part of an outdoor range and we have an "action range" where we can draw from concealment and fire while moving. we have steel targets and all that and stages set up for use with IDPA, 3-gun, cowboy action, IPSC, and all the other disciplines that we host. the downfall is..i don't get out as often as i should. used to go @ least once every 2 weeks if not every week and fire off 100-200 rounds. now it seems i only get out there once a month..have to change this fact real soon since i really don't have an excuse such as ammo shortage since i reload..

+1. I shoot as often as I can afford to. Bills come first and trigger time second. I am planning on joining my local club though, kinda like the perks of the club membership. As far as ability and tactics go, I think most of us could easily putum where they need to be, if the chips were down.

About 200-400 Rounds of 9mm a week.

Maybe 50-100 rounds of other calibers per month.

I'm realoading bout 2000 rounds Every Two months and its gone.

I shoot about 1-2 matches a month. Mixed IDPA and Two gun matches.

Some ranges were static with distances from 3-800 meters
Do you live in Canada? Meters??? what happened to yrds??? 800 meters for 5.56 is ineffective.

Sir, you make a assumption that may be flawed; not every one lives within driving distance of a shooting club; at least not the distance that I would feel cost effective for the $$$ sacrifice. For the price that clubs are charging in my area a minium usage would be twice a month; which in all actuallity would need to be more like three times a month 9 months out of 12. I live in Kansas where we can have 80 degree days or -20 degree days in the winter and 110 degree days summer. Add to that work schedule and that makes driving to a range a bite!! Just for the record the nearest outdoor range I know of is 150-200 round trip. Would loved to seen one within 30 round trip but it got shot down by the county fathers!!
