Same here. And I have seen many that were cherry red and it didn't happen.

Yeah man, I agree. This is why I carry with (gasp!) empty chamber. To me, it just seems safer for day-to-day gun handling. If I was a LEO on duty or a soldier on combat duty, then it'd be different. If it takes me an extra fraction of a second to chamber a round, then so be it. Better than shooting my leg (or other important parts, lol) off, or maybe injuring innocent bystander.

The key is practice. Carrying with an empty chamber isn't going to do you much good when you need your gun or after using it! As I explain in this thread:
Deployed the G27 in SD last week - sort of I needed to use my gun (and in a pretty good hurry at first). Then I had to reholster a chambered weapon while still stressed about the event. Carrying it chambered in the first place allowed me to deploy my firearm in a hurry. Practice made this habit second nature.

Others in previous postings discussed thumb safeties. You still have to remember to turn the safety on and remove your finger from the trigger guard - that all comes from practice so that the action is second nature even though your mind is still stressed from using your gun.

Broke his leg? Let's hear it for .45 ACP. Hope he gets better soon.

How we behave as gun owners is important. Posturing and threatening does not serve us well in the public eye.

Actually he was shooting a 9mm Springfield XD using some wolf target ammo. It broke his femur completely in two, thats the reason for the pins and metal rod.

That's right on the money. Had it happen to me with an M60 many years ago. Twisting the belt does stop it but things happen so fast you may run through the belt before you react. I wouldn't think this could happen with a handgun. You can't get enough rounds thru it fast enough to heat it up sufficiently. An M60 is a different story. Seen barrels get so hot they seem translucent. Not that hard to get the barrel to warp. Sure gets your attention when it happens .

Hope your friend recovers fully and tell him to stay away from Wolf ammo. I tried Wolf ammo years ago on my HK USP 45. About 20 rounds through I got a jam, it was a good thing it jammed. After closer inspection the casing had a hairline crack in it.

You will occasionally find a dud in any type of "bargain" ammo. I've shot thousands of rounds of Wolf 9mm w/o any problems. I've actually had more problems with WWB.

If you carry in Condition 3, you have two empty chambers. One in the weapon...the other between your ears.

So have I but, some folks are using WWB and have never had a problem.
I guess it just doesn't like me and so I don't ever use it much.
