Where is it legal to discharge firearms?

Don't know if this is the right place for this, but does anyone know where it is legal and illegal to shoot firearms? I watch this guy on youtube named nutnfancy and he has a place in the desert where he goes to shoot so he doesn't have to deal with range safety rules (no drawing from concealed, no rapid fire, etc.) Still don't own a gun yet, but was just curious.

Depends on your state, but usually outside of city limits and at least a certain distance from any building.

Anyplace that it is not illegal.

Most city ordinaces prohibit shooting in city limits, but just about anywhere in the country is OK as long as you arent endagering others. You cant shoot from roads or on someone elses private property unless you have permission.

We got lots of calls concerning shooting firearms. As long as there is a good backstop and nothing downrange we dont worry about it .

You might want to check if there is a law telling you that you have to be a certain distance away from the road.

In NYS you can't shoot on/over a road or within 500 feet of a building unless you own it or have permission.
Naturally this does not apply in a city or town.

I've wondered this myself.

Say I'm out driving in the country and see a place that looks safe to shoot. Can I just pull over and start shooting? Most land is owned by someone. Without the owners permission wouldn't I be trespassing?
