Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

Axis folder from H&K, pros and cons?

Any opinions on the HK34FTCB Tanto, Combo Edge? I was thinking about this for a pocket carry. I have a Timberline Specwar, but it is kinda hard knife to conceal and carry. If you know what I mean.

What task would one attend to with a combination edge tanto blade?

Not sure to be honest. I intend for this to be a defense knive not really a utilitarian knife. Are you against the Tanto or the serrated edge? Any suggestions on this matter? Kinda new to carrying defensive weapons. I would appreciate your opinions and knowledge. Is there a different knife I should consider?

I like my Specwar, but I didn't think through my purchase. I can't use it in very many applications. I thought about getting the smaller version, the Timberline Aviator but the same problems with concealment and effective carrying position are still presented. I see now why everyone carries locking folders.

I am very fond of the Tanto style blade. Any problems with that idea or is the blade style just a preference issue?

My preference for SD carry is full-plain edge, or, in a few cases, a full-serrated, never "halvsies". If it was going to be a utility knife, where you would be cutting lines, cords, etc, the combo would make sense, otherwise......(basically it makes sharpening an unnecessary pain, and unless you're facing heavily layered agressors (and you don't have a HG), plain-edged does fine)

Having seen one, the tanto has no "cons", other than having to take a bit more time stoning the edge, and it will offer a bit more depth with a snap-cut. I like them, and after (as soon as!) I get a fullsized Skirmish, I think I need one.
