| Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver. |

I'm thinking seriously about buying this particular knife. (See Pic & Specs. Below)
Mostly because it sports a 5" blade. So far....$59.00 Smacks plus Shipping is the best price I've found on this knife but, I've honestly not searched for a better price. It's really not worth it for me to search the web for 3 hours to save $10.00 ~ I would lose $$$ by doing that as I can make better and more gainful/productive use of my time. Anybody know of a better knife for the money? Blade length is absolutely critical for me. I am not interested in any knife with a blade length of less than 4.5" or 4.7"!!!!! ~ ~ 5" being the ideal blade length for me. I could care less about serrations & can take take them...or leave them. 5" blade length (or VERY CLOSE to that length) would be my main determining factor coupled (of course) with good quailty. There are LOTS of high quality knives that I look at & LOVE but, then I catch that blade length of 3.5" & then it's "out of the running" for me. Any other knife suggestions? QK, I've got that particular knife and really like it. Workmanship is decent and it holds an edge well. Have used it for three deer seasons counting this one and it does well. Blade is heavier than I originally imagined it would be, but a beefier blade is rarely a bad thing.
Got mine from cutleryshoppe.com. Think I paid more than you found, though.

Thanks for your input Steve. I value your opinion (based on your past posts in general) & if you carry the same one and you're happy with it....then that's good enough for me.
For me....the price is about right & the quality looks/sounds really decent. I think I'm just going to go with it. The weight is about right also & I like that AUS8 Stainless. I actually have a semi~antique 5" blade locking folder that is still in good shape but, it's old & it's extremely HEAVY. It has Ebony wood handles & a ton of brass & I'd honestly have more use for another Colt .45 auto spare magazine...rather than lug that old knife around anymore. It feels like a "ship anchor" in my pocket. So...unless anybody has any other suggestions within the next couple of days....then I'm buying this one. |

I owned that same SOG a few years back.I found the blade itself to be decent but the plastic handle seemed pretty flimsy for my liking.Got rid of it.I now only carry Benchmades and find them to be one of the best,IMO.However they can get pricey. For the price range of that SOG you could probably get a nice CRKT which I believe to be a better product. My $.02.

Columbia River
Columbia River would be a great choice if they made a knife with a 5" blade but, I don't think they have any model close to that blade length.
