Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

Number of common things can be used as weapons in emergency situations.

MILLWALL BRICK - (English football hooligan contribution to western
civilization) - tightly fold and roll magazine or newspaper, fold tip
back and tie in place with shoelaces. Strike at sensative locations -
throat, solar plexus, groin

Kubaton substitutes - maglite penlight flashlights, magic markers,
COLD STEEL SHARKIE pen used for strikes and joint locks or holds

Metal case pen like Cross or Mont Blanc - used to stab/strike

Roll of quarters/nickels - wrap in handkerchief/scrave and swing as
sap, Very effective

On United 93 flight attendents boiled water in galley to be used against hijackers.

Just use your imagination

Didn't read pages 3 and 4 completely so forgive me if these have all been mentioned before:

Standard "tactical" flashlights. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've boarded planes with my Gladius, 6P LED or other hard metal hand-sized light.

Mil-Tac TDP: Tactical Defense Pen. It's just a pen - made of aircraft aluminum. It ain't cheap but in every configuration it's more than enough to puncture bones (can you say cranial vault?), skin, muscle, etc. It won't break... so far.

Stylus for your PDA: You can get these in titanium now. No one ever questions your PDA - and the stylus is stored INSIDE it. The same thing is said of Nintendo DSs and other "kids'" game platforms.

My challenge coin can be used as a thrown distraction device.

My business card holder has a sharpened corner on it but it never garners attention.

I have a credit card with a sharpened edge... it may not do a LOT of damage, but it will do some.

My metal cigar tube (holds two cigars side by side) has cleared security a few times and it would certainly make a good blunt impact device.

Just a few thoughts...

And who could forget about the Benchmade pen? Pricey though!

You can carry long pointed knitting needles
on a plane. Girlfriend did once. I was surprised
they allowed those. Would make a good weopon
on a plane.

I didn't know Benchmade had gotten into the "tactical pen" market...cool.

Why not carry a cane and walk with a limp for a few min's...

now that's an idea.

I have gout, so a cane goes with me everywhere. Its one of the metal ones that is adjustable. So it can be shortened for close quarters.

I met a guy with a limp. He had an oak cane with a brass "knob" from a saddle on it. I don't know what they call the knob, but it looked like it would hurt.

Oh and don't underestimate the power of a berret. YouTube - THE GUARDIAN ANGELS TRAINING WITH WING CHUNG AKA KHALIL

Check out this video at about 1:10, this is such BS and I can't believe that they actually teach it. I actually have issue with a lot of "techniqes" in this video.
I can see that some of the techniques could work, but how about running them at full speed rather than at a kata speed? And who holds a firearm with that little force that it could be taken away by someone dropping a beret on it and ripping it away?
