| Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver. |

Utah laws concerning knives????
All I can really find is this.
Utah - Offenses Against Public Health and Safety - 76-10-504. Carrying concealed dangerous weapon. (1) Any person... carrying a concealed dangerous weapon... is guilty of a class B misdemeanor. - 76-10-501... Definitions... (2)... (c) "Dangerous weapon" means an item that in the manner of its use or intended use is capable of causing death or serious bodily injury. The following factors shall be used in determining whether an item, object, or thing not commonly known as a dangerous weapon is a dangerous weapon: (i) the character of the instrument, object, or thing; (ii) the character of the wound produced, if any; and (iii) the manner in which the instrument, object, or thing was used. But I can find anything about a concealed Weapons permit only a firearm permit. Soooo if I carry my knife I can get in trouble for carrying a concealed weapon? I am in the waiting process for my firearm permit but that doesnt say anything about knives. Just wondering if I buy something like a Kbar TDI and carry it on my belt will I get in trouble? |

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would recommend calling BCI. They would (I imagine) be able to answer your questions about blades. I do know that in Utah, your concealed permit is for firearms, not weapons.

Check and make some phone calls regarding what a CC permit covers in your state specifically. In Kentucky where I live our CCDW permit (Concealed Carry of Deadly Weapon) overs everything from a handgun to knife and all so-called ninja weapons but I bet if you were to ask, most people in the state might not know that.

If it is legal to own here, it is legal to carry with your CFP.

Dustinmk4:
I e-mailed your question to BCI and got a response this morning. They told me that in Utah, it is a Concealed Firearms Permit, and ONLY covers firearms. For carriage of knives, you have to ask the local police dept. or sheriff, whichever applies to you. I will also PM you in case you stopped looking at this thread.
