Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

Help me pick a Stun Gun or Taser

I know nothing about these, and want to get the wife one for her birthday. She will carry it in her purse. She has her CCW and a S&W Revolver but never carries it. Maybe she will carry a taser or stun gun. Give me some recommendations please!!!! Thanks

How about some friendly advice...make sure she WANTS this for her birthday, or it could be chilly around your place for awhile.

I believe the Taser is better than a Stun Gun anyday
but, it's big and she might not want to carry that
around in her purse.

I found this small compact stun gun online and it's

I would post a link, but it is "NSFW". The point of the vid is that stun guns are (in general) more toys than tools, and some people get freaky with their toys, which says a good bit about efficacy. Just something to consider...

if you have to, Taser.

A Taser is superior to any stun gun IMHO because it can be used at a distance, instead of only used up close and personal.

If she doesn't carry the S&W, what makes you think that she will carry anything else?

Well...for one thing it is not a gun, 2, you cant get arrested for some minor infraction on how you carry it.

Cant you all just answer the question if you have an answer rather than question my decision to get her one?

You would give your wife neither?......what, walking around with nothing is better, or a key is superior to a Taser?

Given the standoff capability, IMHO a taser is far superior to a stun gun. Honestly though, a good OC, like Fox Labs is prob nearly as effective as the taser in most defensive situations, isn't limited to a single shot, is easier to carry, easier to train with, and costs a heckuva lot less.

Neither is a replacement for a firearm, but either would be better than nothing.

Would I give my wife a taser...No!
Having to use a weapon that requires the proximity of the BG to almost be on top of you?
She'd be better off with some good pepper spray. OMOYMV

If our spouses choose not to carry when they CAN...not our problem.

My wife has her permit and several options for carry...KelTec's, S&W snubbie, or a Glock-26...most of the time she goes without. I'm constantly harping about it, but without any luck. I just let it go...

Stay armed...allow others their choices...stay safe!
