Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

yep, just like a hammer or baseball bat.

Now that I think about it, is there any law concerning an AX. Maybe I'll just start carrying a short handle ax

I carry a Delica 4 locally.
If I go to unfamiliar areas of the state or any of the metro counties/large cities then it stays in the car. In Georgia any and all cities/counties can have their own ordinances regarding knives and researching them isn't always easy.

You can drive through a small town with a population under 2k and stop for a bite to eat. The two (or three or whatever) handguns you are carrying will be legal, but that folder in your pocket with a blade over two inches may not be.

So they would let us carry a concealed handgun with a permit and not a knife?

I don't know about Ohio, but as an example, a state that has no preemption could allow a concealed knife with a 6" blade by state law, but the town you're in may have a dumb law that only allows blades under 1". This could be the problem in the situation that started this thread.

I have read that even in Texas this can be true, as far as a municipality can enforce a different law. I am getting to the point that I believe we have more to fear from the law than the criminals.

Let's see..... figure out a way to pay an attorney, or risking being found guilty when I"m not and doing some time..... gee.... I think I would find a way to get and pay an attorney.

DA's won't dismiss it just because he's not guilty. I've seen DA's with video evidence the person was 30 miles away and receipts from a store showing it , who didn't drop the charges. Why ? Because it would mess up their stats and effect their merit raises. However, if a Judge throws it out, then it doesn't effect their merit raise and isn't a mark against them. ... not their fault the Judge threw it out. If you are looking for a DA to be looking for honesty and justice, look elsewhere... at least around here.

Good point.I always got the idea that the DA wants to win. So right and wrong does not matter. The only DA I actually got to view in action, seemed to have some kind of evil air about him. Maybe there are a few decent humans that have this job. I do not get my hopes up.Perhaps the judge is most important in a courtroom.

I would think their raises would be based on how many cases they won not on how many cases they took to trial If the judge dismiss the case I would think it would look even worse than a jury loss because that shows you don't even know the law and wasted resources on a case with no merit.
It is a least worth the effort you can always get the lawyer if he is an A$$

Nope. Now if they want to go from ADA to DA, that's a bit different...
