| Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver. |

I like the RAT Cutlery offerings too. For EDC, I started using the Izula.
RAT Cutlery Co. The handle is skeletonized but when wrapped with some 550 cord, it's very comfortable and sure in my hand. Slips in a pocket easily or as a 'neck knife'. Be well, V |

Rat is a good knife. But I suggest you take a strong look at Bark River knives. I just posted somehting very similar to someone else about a small EDC knife. For 3 inches or so take a look at the Imp or the Gunny. If you take a look over at knifeforum.com and go to the subforum for Bark river Kinves there are some very well versed folks on Barkies including Mike Stewart the owner of the company himself. There are other places on line to find Barkies but the best two places I've found were knivesshipfree.com and theknifeconnection.com. Both Derrick and Dale are great to do business with. Bark River may not be as well known as some of the bigger cookie cutter knife companies but there quality and selection has them beat hands down. Take a close look at them before buying somthing else b/c they are some of if not the best reasonably priced well made knives on the market.

I'll be looking into that as well. But first, because I've been spending to much on this kind of thing lately & need to take care of a few bills<G>, I'll keep looking at a secure way to attach my Ka-Bar TDI (small version) to my belt in the horizontal position.

You can have the best knife or handgun on the planet but if you can't deploy it it's useless. Finding the right knife is only one element in having an effective edge weapon self-protection plan. Another element is deciding on a carry method that allows you to quickly deploy the knife based on the typical clothing you wear, work environment, etc.

I do physical work, squatting, picking up, carrying, etc, so I've been working on the best way to carry my knife, gun, etc, were it's available yet not in the way. |

In the future please open your own thread so that you do not hi-jack another members thread. I'll let it go this time and allow your post to stay up since other members have already responded to what knife you personally are looking for. |

For under $25 the Boker Subcom
![]() is an amazing little knife. No one will ever be able to take this little sucker out of your paws. It sharpens wicked sharp and holds its edge well. Don't let the size of this little 2 inch razor blade fool you, it is a vicious weapon of last resort. American designed by Chad Los Banos a prison guard whom I suspect knows a thing or two about close quarters combat, but distributed by Boker a German Co. if I am correct. Don't know who makes it. Mercop has a great review and video of the SubClaw variant in action at SubClaw Review. I prefer the SubCom. Either will serve you well. Mine is my money clip to provide a wicked surprise before handing my cash over. My weapon of last resort ![]() Another vicious no nonsense SD tool for under $60 with a very small footprint in a fixed blade, also by Chad Los Banos is the Boker MPT. The 3 3/4 inch blade is substantial. The handle has similar ergonomics to the SubCom providing a rock solid grip on a small handle that allows the knife to appear much smaller than it really is. Personally, I am not overly fond of the sheath with the Tec-Lok. It just screams tactical which IMO undermines the beauty of its small inconspicuous footprint. I will have a leather one made before this becomes a regular EDC. You can see most all of Chad Los Banos designs at KnivesPlus.com Last but not least is the Becker Necker this 1095 high carbon steel beauty is already a classic. An Ethan Becker designed blade made by Ka-Bar is 100% American made and designed. ![]() I put a convex edge on mine. If I set a piece of paper on the blade it will slice through it, from just the weight of the paper. It retains the best edge I have ever put on a blade. After carrying knives for 47 years this is my first SD ONLY boot knife. I like it so much I am having a $1,700 sheath made for it. Well, actually I am having them add a sheath to two pairs of Whites Boots. Still for me to add a sheath for any knife to a pair of Whites says alot about how nice this knife is. It like the SubCom welds to your hand quick nimble and sure. Clean efficient nothing flashy elegant design with nothing extra but everything you need to do the job. The rest of Ethan Becker's excellent affordable designs made by Ka-Bar can be found at TomarsKaBars.com On my must have list at a higher price point $145 to $160 is a Grayman Dinka. ![]() The Dinka has a 4.25 inch by 1.5 inches wide and .24 inches thick blade. The Mini Dinka has a 2.5 inch by 1.5 inches wide and .24 inches thick blade. Specifically designed to terminate terrorists by a warrior who has dedicated the last decade of his life to giving Islamic terrorists dirt naps. The spine of each blade is stamped with "DEATH TO AL QAEDA" Made with the same 1095 high carbon steel, with the same clean efficient design and integrity of Ethan Beckers knives, Grayman knives have the added benefit of knowing that a knife just like yours is putting terrorists and baby killers into shallow graves. That your dollars will be used to help this warrior to continue training supporting and fighting along side those on the front lines in the war against terrorism. Military/law enforcement/ contractor orders receive priority. Your can see all of GrayMans knives and read more about this warrior knife maker at GrayManKnives.com
