Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

What's the Secret for Gun / Knife Carry?

My Cold Steel sheath is 1&3/4" x 1/8" and my Ka-Bar sheath is 2" x 3/16". My gun belt is too thick for either. Of particular interest are replies from those who carry either of these two knives.

I just carry my knife in my pocket. Particularly the watch pocket of jeans if I'm wearing them. That might not be the answer you're looking for though.

Sorry I don't quite understand your question.

Are you wanting to know about carrying Cold Steel and Ka Bar fixed blade knives or gun and knife carry in general?

A good leather belt can solve some problems of concealed carry. Some of the holster maker sponsors of DC sell belts designed for that very purpose. I hope this helps you somewhat.

Sounds like you need to seek the services of a custom sheath maker.

Oh, those are fixed blades...

I guess pocket carry would be out of the question then. My carry knife is a switchblade/folder.

I have a good, leather gun belt for my gun holster. I just don't know how to add a knife. I can clip the Cold Steel to my pants under the belt because the belt loop of its sheath is open at the bottom forming a clip. But the Ka-Bar has no clip - just two slots. The belt is too thick to carry either of these knives, at all. How can I add the Ka-Bar to my carry rig?

I see now. Maybe one of the custom holster makers can make you a pouch or a sheath that slides on your belt and leaves the top half of your knife exposed for a quick draw. Pure Kustom makes a lot of different items in leather, perhaps you could try there first.

For concealed carry of defensive knives I'd recommend Kydex over leather.

Custom digital camo Kydex knife sheaths
There are many other makers out there. These are just a few off the top of my head.

Is your Ka-Bar a TDI? If so, I think they make a clip that can be attached to your sheath. Is the clip on the Cold Steel sheath removable? If it is, you could drill a couple of holes and use a small Tek-Lok or an IWB loop instead.

The best solution would be to have custom sheaths made.

Or you could buy some Kydex and make your own belt attachment.

Yeah, there's a lot of talented people working in polymer these days.
People do some amazing and beautiful things with leather, but IMO Kydex (or Concealex) is best for utilitarian concealed carry purposes.
