Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

Buck 119

I decided to obtain a Buck 119 knife and would like to know who owns this brand of knife. I know it is kind of big but I use it mainly as a tackle box knife or open carry hunter.

I have one. I like it for the most part but its hard to sharpen and dulls quickly. It does conceal well covered by my button up shirt, I forget I have it with the sheath it comes with. I can only carry it concealed around the house legally though. Might be different where you are.

For your use it will probably be fine just make sure you keep it sharp and for extended outdoors I carry a pocket stone.

This is very true.
I have the Buck 119 and the Buck Woodsman (slightly thinner than the 119).
They have been sharpened at the 'knife shop' and placed into the safe!

I have a third Buck with a 'gut hook' on it, but not sure of the model.
It's provided a lot of table food in past decades.

Very reputable knife. Definitely hard to sharpen like all Buck knives. Get a real sharpening stone -skip the diamond as it's too abrasive.

I think that is what I am afraid of is that it gets dull fast. I like the design.
