| Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver. |

Don't kid yourself, many of us have been in close contact with the Haji type and the fixed blade knives have served us well, as well the folders from Harsey/Reeve and Strider. Would yu like to compare experiences across the pond ???? ![]()

And last I checked a 6 - 7" bladed pigsticker fixed-blade knife isn't exactly great for CCW, let alone EDC. I can imagine how much fun it would be to explain to the nice officer(s) why you have a Glock and a Class-A 11-inch O/A mil-spec shankin' stick if it ever comes to that.

Whether it's a 10.00 knife or a 300.00 knife when I cut myself it hurts just as much

A $10 knife has a feature that no $120 knife has. When you drop your $10 knife over the side of the boat, you just say "oh well" and grab your spare. Drop your $120 and you are busy looking for a diver to get it back.

[QUOTE=Skygod;1266113]Certainly. However, I will admit that most of our "across the pond" experiences were accompanied by the exchanges aroused by generous quantities of gun powder, and that sword fighting duties generally were left to the play time of little boys. However, back then we carried only the sheath knives and not the modern day cool looking folders. If we only had had a modern Leatherman and GPS life would have been a dream.

If that's really a concern, may I respectfully suggest that you live in the wrong state?! ![]()

When I went in for a written test during the hiring process of a LEA I had the wonderful time of explaining why I had my CRKT Bear Claw on my belt with it's big, bad 2-inch blade. The officer wasn't comfortable with that being on my belt because "they don't know me from Adam", and what with my wife out shopping during the testing process, I had to check it in with an officer at the door. Of course, that same officer completely ignored the 20 or so folders with clips hanging out of pants pockets - with it being almost guaranteed that every single one of these blades having a blade length at least one full inch longer than my CRKT - that all of the other testers had on them. ![]() |

I hear ya. I have a Frost Coonskinner and have had it for about 22yrs now. It doesnt look as pretty as it once did, doesnt hold an edge as long as my CRKT but for a under $10 knife it has more that paid for itself several times over. When it comes to knifes you dont always get what you pay for. I doubt I will buy anymore overpriced Coldsteel products anymore. For a camp knife or utility knife that you know will be abused, then yeah get a Frost and you will be fine. If it breaks or you loose it you wont be out much.

A $400 RIA works... but I still prefer my $2000 custom Fusion.
A cheapo kydex holster works ... but I still prefer my Pure Kustom Black-Ops Pro My $20 S&W tactical folder works ... but I prefer my Benchmade. My 1998 Forester with 170K miles on the clock works ... but I prefer my 2007 B9 Tribeca. You starting to see the picture here? There are plenty of "it works for cheap" out there, that doesn't mean one can't appreciate and get better enjoyment, out of the more expensive one. I'm not a brand-whore either. I don't care about the name, I care about the quality. It's worth it to me.
