Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

My main issue with TOPS is that they seem to peddle a lot more "tacticool" than "worth a dang".

They don't get much "buzz", but I love their knives. My family has 5 of them, and we love their products.

They excel at customer service too. Their knives always come with a "grab bag" of goodies, even t-shirts, and a hand-written note thanking you for your purchase.

They are an excellent hybrid of handcraft and machined goods that will serve for years to come.

Check them out!
I love TOPS's variety of designs, and their knives come like razors and well-made, but I think for their prices you should get more than gunkoted 1095.

Tops knives are sharpened lawn mower blades. Some of the names they pick for their knives are out of control. Overall heavy duty but I will stick with the Becker stuff from K-Bar.- George

Oh...come on, George! You're just mad because they took all the cool names like "Felony Stop", "Grim Reaper", "Iraq Jac Joint Aggravation Control", and a bunch more with kick-butt acronyms featuring plentys of "Q" s and "X"s.

It's not their fault that our favorite makers have crummy marketing departments...

Thumbs up Benchmade

Since we're still "offering" our opinions, I'd send up this as meeting Rollo's criteria:

The blade meets your criteria, at 3.4". A nice Axis lock, made by Benchmade.

14255 Details | Benchmade

Here's a great retailer at a good price:

KnifeSupply.com - Heckler & Koch Axis Tactical Tanto G-10 Knife

They also have it in a serrated version.
