Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

I need a knife recomendation please

I am hoping you folks can give me a recomendation for a new pocket. For me a pocket knife is more of a tool then a weapon although I would use it as such as a last resort if needed. What I am looking for is pretty specific so here are the parameters.

- Under a 3 inch blade
- Tanto style blade
- Easy one handed open
- Must have a pocket clip
- I would prefer black

Any ideas?

I would really like to keep it under 100.00 if at all possible. Oh, and one other thing. It would be REALLY nice if it does NOT have a lock (The kind that keep the blade from opening) I have this on my current knife and it annoys me to no end.

Sorry, can't help you. I think you might have a hard time finding a sub 3" tanto blade. I did a little looking around and can't find anything.

This is the one my Brother carries.
I bought it for him on Ebay. I don't remember what seller I bought it from but, it was not this one. It's a nice knife. Quick & Easy one hand opening and the ARC Lock is great.
The lock is the lock that locks the blade open. Very Strong.
There is no lock that keeps the blade closed.

One flick of the thumb and that blade is out there and ready.

I paid about $80(something ???) plus Shipping plus Insurance.
So you'll need to shop around.

$60.00 ~ That's a Very Good price considering the MSRP.
I usually don't shop around as much as I probably should.

Oh, well that changes everything!

553 Details | Benchmade

I'm sure you could find one for around $80.00. Most dealers charge less than MSRP.

Benchmade Mini Griptilian with modified sheepsfoot blade! (less than $70)

The Modified Sheepsfoot blade is a great utility blade shape yet has a tip strong enough for defensive use. I have a full size Griptialian modified sheepsfoot with the 3.45 inch blade, and it is awesome. I carry it everyday for work in EMS!

But if you require less than 3 inches, the Mini Griptilian is perfect.

(Most people find tanto blades to be pretty sucky for general utility and cutting use. They were originally designed for maximum tip strength for stabbing purpose and to pierce armor. I quit carrying a tanto blade at work because it just wasn't versatile enough for real knife use)

(There are a choice of blade designs in the Griptilian line besides the sheepsfoot, such as tanto and modified drop point. And of course you can get it with or without the partial serrations.)

Benchmade Mini Griptilian
Blade Length: 2.91 in.
Blade Thickness: 0.100 in.
Blade Material: 154CM Stainless Steel, BK Coated
Blade Hardness: 58-61HRC
Blade Style: Hollowground Modified Sheepsfoot; Ambidextrous Thumb-Holes
Handle: Black Glass Fill Noryl GTX®/Color Valox® Handle Scales
Overall Length: 6.78 in.
Closed Length: 3.87 in.
Clip: Tip Up, Reversible, Black
Lock Mechanism: Axis
Weight: 2.56 oz.
