| Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver. |

I use the CRKT M16-10K, partially serrated and partially smooth.

I prefer a partially serrated blade. I have a few straight edge blade but end up not carrying them much.
Most of the time, the serrations don't need much sharpening as compared to the straight edge portion. I have a tapered round diamond sharpener for the serrated portion of my blade which does an excellent job at restoring the serrations to factory sharpness. I also have the Spyderco Triangle knife sharpener which also sharpens both straight edge and serrated portions.

I was, too, meaning SD blades. I think my Spyderco Civilian is at its best serrated, whereas my Spyderco Ronin is at its best with a conventional edge, to compare two very different knives from the same maker, that I actually do carry regularly. |

I don`t want anything getting in the way of my cutting. Smooth edge all the way.

Smooth for me. I follow the razor edge book of sharpening mentality, there are very few things a serrated blade can do that a properly sharpened plain edge can't handle.

I like a plain edge. The serrated edge is really just a saw, It shreds more then cuts. A good sharp steak knife makes a smoother cut then a serrated one. Some steak knives have serrated blades so you can saw through tough meat.
Happiness is a good sharp smooth knife that slices smoothly through all you want to cut. |

A good blade you can shave hair off, a scary blade is one that can shave a hair.
