Working man's 30-06?

All,

I've wanted a 30-06 since I was probably 15 years old.

I don't want a safe queen. And I'm not gonna pay a lot for this rifle!

What's a reliable, cheap, accurate option for me?

Yep - Savage will be good value and if with acu-trigger, pretty nice to shoot too.

You may also see if something used is around like a Rem 700 or even Ruger 77 - could get a good deal.

Thanks, Guys.

I'll see what my local shop has a Savage (110 seems to be popular?)

The Savage 111 series are the best bargain out there. Specially with the accu-trigger. The MSRP runs in the $500s but they can be found for less than $400 if you look

You can't beat a remington 700. I've had one since I was 18. I'm now 50. It still looks and shoots like it just came out of the box

Tikka. Competative price with Browning, Winchester, Ruger, Remington but GUARENTEES 1" group or the gun doesn't leave the factory and has the silkiest bolt action I have ever fondled. I had a Tikka 7mm-08 that shot any 140gr bullet into a 5 shot group of 5/8". Didn't matter brand or type of bullet. If it was 140gr, it went 5/8". I think I paid $530 for it brand new.
