Weirdos. :P

Betty\'s Evil Black Kit:

I know the Magpul looks silly on a 10-round mag, but until I get some 30 rounders in, that\'s all I have. :(

*edited: Belated Santa just sent me 20 and 30-round mags in the mail.

I\'m gathering parts for my first AR. I need a barrel and the specialized tools to complete it. It\'s going to be a 16\" A2 style carbine with 6 pos stock. The only \"upgrades\" over a standard carbine will be the Hogue freefloat tube and Hogue grip that I got for Christmas. Unfortunately, the upper and lower receivers don\'t match, so I\'m trying to decide if I want to recoat them.

Sorry about the quality.

I just forwarded Betty two pictures of my Colt and my Marlin. Sorry for the quality, guys.

I\'m just learning how to use my digital camera, and while I\'m getting better, some situations are real puzzlers.

On these, I wanted to show the full length (or handiness) of the barrels. They are about the same overall length. However, when full shots registered, the detail appeared muddy.

Still, when it comes to defense, both rifles have their special qualities. It depends on whether I\'m hunting, or being hunted.

But then, I view both with the same flush of enthusiasm. :kay:

The AR15 is hard to beat for a close to mid range weapon. There are so many choices and parts for them that they can be set up almost any way you want.
Other choices are FAL, M1A, HK91/G3, AR10 for longer range.
Short range would be an AK47/AKM, SKS, CETME.

Of these for long range I\'d go M1A or FAL, mid range a AR15 rifle or carbine and for short range an AKM. Find friends that have the different models and try them out to see which type fits you best.

Most important is to know the good points and faults of your choice. These may be a gun is too long or powerful for urban work, too short for rural ranges, rounds for it not flat shooting enough, rounds lack wounding power at long range, etc. After you get it make sure all your mags work (AR\'s are bad for this), you sight it in and know where it shoots and that it\'s reliable and jam free for hundreds (at least) of rounds. After all this then you can call it a tactical rifle.

I can only put up a few teaser shots right now. Don\'t have a digital camera and haven\'t taken pics of some of the newer guns. Took these 2 or 3 years ago with a borrowed camera ---

Colt R6601 -

DPMS Panther Bull 20\" -

Another shot of the DPMS -

Springfield Armory M1A-A1 Bush -

Does a shotgun with rifle sights count? Works great with 12-gauge slugs!!
