How do you secure your home defense long gun for quick access?

My current setup is all long guns are in the vault in the bedroom closet. The guns are secure from robbers and children in a big heavy safe bolted to the floor but the dial combination lock, the time it takes to get up out of bed in the middle of a deep sleep, and distance from bed to closet would give the home invading bad guys an extreme advantage. Changing from a dial to a key pad or biometric lock is not an option. Looking around the internet, I have found a few wall mounted rifle racks that take up to three guns but I have not found any single gun wall mount racks. I thought of fabricating some brackets I can bolt to a wall stud and lock up a shotgun with a padlock but there must be some product out there. Also, I already have a GunVault Safe attached to the nightstand for the handguns.

I would like to know how other members keep home defense long guns safe yet ready for quick access

I keep my AR-15 under the edge of the bed when I sleep. When I get up for work, it goes back in the safe. Little more handling involved, but I feel safer this way. I don't have kids though, so that could be an issue for you.

I do the same as Sammy. It's not a long gun but when it's time to go to bed I get my .38 out of the safe or my pocket and put it under the edge of my bed. When I get up it goes into the safe until I'm ready to leave and then into my pocket.

Some one on the forum posted a wall lock in their closet that they made. I did a search but couldn't find it. I remember that it was a U of angle iron bolted to the wall and padded with foam pipe installation. It then had a steel cable run through the trigger guard and padlocked.

Well I think I saw it on this forum

I'm thinking about getting a lock box to go undr the bed when our child gets old enough to crawl for the pistol haven't really thought about the long guns

Many combo locks have a " daylock " which is about 4 or 5 marks off of the unlock no , by using this you can just flip the dial and it will stop at unlock ( you have to fully unlock the safe first then close the safe , and turn back no more than 5 , the handle is locked but with a flip you can open it ) try it on your gunsafe if so that alone may well cover your needs when home .. when you leave just turn back more and its fully locked . untill you reset the daylock .

I use a truck/jeep vertical mount on our bedroom wall next to the bed. We have two 870's on each floor. The guns are not locked since there a no children in the house now. The walls are log so there is no problem mounting them. The guns are held in by an upper clip and a base plate.

If someone visits the rooms are shut to keep the guns out of sight. Since the guns are mounted vertically, I place a small paper cup over the barrel to keep dust, moths, spiders and other things out of the barrel.

When we leave the guns are put in a safe.

AR15 under bed, in unzipped case, loaded mag in place, empty chamber. My wife has my Guide Gun loaded mag, empty chamber on her side to back me up.

I am on search and destroy duty and my wife is protect our son duty. He sleeps in a seperate room so I provide escort for my wife while she grabs our son and retreats to the Arsenal of Democracy (which is what we named our bedroom) as I search for the unlicky *******(s) who picked the wrong house.

concealed gun closet behind a built in book shelf. Works well ......

At the station we just use the same mounts that we have in the car. It is a single gun mount just bolted to the wall. You can get them at any police supply store or like galls or cabelas.
