Tactical Shotgun Refresher.
I attended a Tactical Shotgun Course last year at Oregon Firearms Academy. Since I'm LE and keep qualified with the shotgun, and I have guest instructed police shotgun courses (long) before, this was more of a refresher course for me and to see if anything had changed in the course presentation.
First rate instructional staff at OFA. Nothing had really changed since I last taught, but well worth the time spent. I can definately recommend this school. "Refresher" stuff is important. I have found my shotgun skills deteriorate more quickly than pistol or rifle skills.

Yeah, it was pretty cool that day - but it didn't rain.
Rem 870 - same as I would have carried on duty. |

I'm in Eugene - where is the OFA located? Is it LE only or can civvies sign up for courses? I have very limited shotgun experience - I'm from the UK and ex military.
I recently purchased a Mossberg 590 for HD and want to make sure it's not more of a liability than a tool. |

Here is OFA's link:
http://www.oregonfirearmsacademy.com/ You're not far from them. Their courses are available to civilians. I can't say enough about these folks. Good people that provide top notch training. One of their staff/trainers is a DPSST (Police Academy) firearms trainer. Your Mossy is a very good shotgun. I use to have a short barreled Model 500, and used it for duty with no complaints. Good luck, and glad to have you here in Oregon. In Pursuit, |
