I don't find the milled to be heavy. Sure they're a little heavier than the stamped, but not enough to matter or even be that noticeable to me.

Now a VEPR, I can understand the weight question. I don't mind the weight at all and consider it a perfect "urban-carbine" weapon, but there is a noticeable difference over other AKs, including milled.

The yugo m-70 is of very good quality, and is a good value for the price. Though you cant really go wrong with a romanian or bulgarian either.

My Romanian GP WASR-10/63 has been nothing but boring. No jams, no failures of any kind. It's fairly accurate, but it wont win any shooting matches. It does what Kalashnikov had intended, throw lead down range in any condition. I wouldn't hesitate to sling it over my back in the event of a SHTF situation.

If you want to spend as much for an AK as you would for a AR, you could get a SLR-106FR...

Sweet rifle, but for that much I would get an AR.

In my opinion a stamped rcvr is just as good as a milled rcvr. This is if they are made correctly.(either type) I have two of the stamped ones and they shoot and shoot. From the milspec stuff to my hot handloads (168gr. Sierra's)),my AK's will eat anything.

Save your money to buy more ammo. -------
