ONE of my new AK's

Yugo M70. Haven't shot it yet but I can't wait. I also got a Hungarian AMD 63 I'll post pics of later. The finish wasn't all that good on it though. I'm in the process of sanding and then I'll coat with Birchwood Casey.

Nice looking M70! Good choice. You might look at the Ironwwood site for their stock finishing instructions - I've seen some there that look like fine furniture, yet are durable. Love to see your finished project. Have fun!

Is DuraCoat good? Don't really know too much about finishing. I want it to be like glass when I'm done with it.

I need to get an M70 before the prices become overly ridiculous.

I paid $550 for mine brand new. Are they becoming scarce or something?

I paid about $50 more for my Hungarian and the quality difference between the two is amazing.

You can't even compare the M70 to the Hungarian. Although the Hungarian is A LOT lighter and a little smaller. The Yugo feels like holding a bowling ball. When all else fails I could beat someone with it :)

SRFL,
If you are lookin for a M-70 give Aimsurplus a look. They have them with black furniture and a folding stock if that is your style for $429.

Don't mean to hijack your thread mbj.

I have a Romanian WASR-10 bought after the ban expired. Fit and finish aren't the greatest (ak's aren't meant to be pretty though, are they?), but the thing will flat out not stop shooting. Go shoot both of yours and do a range report. Give them as much abuse as you can, and they still should keep shooting. Your only problem now is buying enough ammo to keep you on the range and happy. Make sure you stock up on hi-cap mags too.

no worries.....all discussions welcome. Problem is I can't afford the ammo right now. Maybe in a couple of weeks. You think hi-cap mags will go out soon??

Well, there is always the chance that the new Congress will try to pass an assault weapons ban, which would almost certainly restrict hi-caps. It's not because of a supply problem, there are lots of them out there, and right now you can get pretty decent ones for really cheap.
