My custom HD shotgun is well under way!
I started with a basic 870 Express Magnum that held 4+1 rounds, and had synthetic furniture. I have since then added a Knoxx Spec Ops stock, and today, I added a 2 round TACSTAR mag extension. My shotty went from holding only 4+1 rounds to 6+1 rounds
Any other ideas for my trusty 870 would be appreciated! Before: ![]() After: ![]() ![]() |

Lookin good so far, some sort of side saddle to hold extra shells and a weapon mounted light are always good ideas for a HD shotty.

Yeah, I was gonna eventually get the Surefire forend, and a 6 shell sidesaddle to hold 3 slugs, and 3 extra round of 00 buckshot. The amount of aftermarket parts for the 870 is unbelievable. It makes me even more glad I got one.

Lookin' good.
I know some of these are repeats but here are my ideas: sling tac light ghost sights side saddle stock saddle heat shield (personally I don't care for them) Once you try out the new stock let me know how you like it, I'm looking at getting a knoxx stock for mine. |

I have already tried it out. I can say that the Knoxx Spec Ops stock does exactly what it was designed to do, reduce felt recoil.

Shorter forearm, put the old stock back on, mount a light, and get a hard ammo carrier of some sorts and call it a day.

Do you have a miter-saw? Trimming your fore-end at the rear, so as not to cover the loading gate when racked back makes clearing much easier. Cut it about 1/2-1/4" behind the rear shoulder, where the slide arm locks up. You can round the edges with 400 grit wet/dry paper.

I would add a heat shield.
I, personally, like the look it added to mine.

I recently picked up a Mossberg 500 Tactical with collapsing stock, stock saddle, and heat shield. Just ordered sling mounting hardware and a Vickers Sling for it. Nice looking Boom Stick you have there! ![]()
