#1... Empty chamber...5 rds 00 buck in the tube and 5 rds 00 buck on the stock.

No slugs because 1) I live in town and 2) the shottie is a Mossy 835 Accu Mag with the over-bored bbl... I know...I'd rather have had a 500 or 590 or 870...but I got the 20" bbl, M4 style stock/pistol grip at a great price...

I have an 870 with one in the chamber plus a full tube. I don't subscribe to the myth that someone is going to piss their pants and run because they heard the slide rack on a pump shotgun. I wouldn't run away if a BG was trying to harm my family and he was armed with a shotgun so why should I believe that he would? DON'T GIVE UP YOUR LOCATION WITH UNECESSARY NOISE!!!!!!!!!!

I have two guns, one for each of ya.

Winchester 1300 beside the bed. Regular sporting rounds close by but secured. I have kids and can't keep it loaded and at the ready.

I thought about getting one of the shotgun locks from an old cruiser and modifying it to fit in my closet.

Like this one.

Think it's doable?

lowflyer,

I highly recommend the case, I've had it a little over a year now and really like it. It's quick, and doesn't take up much room at all. The baked on finish slides easily on carpet, so I put a parachute cord "handle" on it. Grab "handle", slide case out, hit 3 buttons and the gun is ready. I have another V-Line in my nightstand for my HD pistol and I set the combo’s the same. Before buying the long gun case, I didn't like leaving my M1S90 out either, regardless of how well I thought I hid it, so like yours it stayed in the big safe. Too much liability involved, especially with the 3.5-year-old around.

Due to the added security, I'm thinking of switching over to a loaded chamber, 7 in the tube. It will take some additional training for my wife, right now I've gotten her used to racking the bolt to chamber the round on the tray.

The only draw back with the case is that it costs as much as some HD guns do.

My Coach Gun Stays In The Safe...

I have enough firepower on my person and around the house...
If I were to sense the need for help beyond my Rhodesian Ridgeback and .45's...the Coach Gun is only a few steps away in an open safe.

Stay armed...stay safe!

870 with 6 in the tube, chamber empty, hammer down, safety off. I can rack it as loud as I want, and the CRIMINAL won't be able to hear it because of the dogs chewing on him.

On my Mossy's and Remingtons I have a Mesa Tactical Side Saddle.
Locked and loaded, safety on.
Loaded with Federal Premium 00 buck. This has their new flight control wad.....from the testing I have done it is unbelievable.

Here is mine.

It will hold 7+1. I keep 5 in the tube, none in the chamber. 5 more in a box next to it. Oh, yeah. I dryfire as well.
