I have yet to see a Mini-14 (even)Ranch,shoot 2 inches at 100yds.
This, even with bullets between 50 and 62grs. Not sayin' it can't happen though. |

I will be giving my Mini 14 and Mini 30 to my son for plinking rifles....
He likes them real well and I wont worry about him scratching them up at all.....

I hear that with a heavy barrel and a bedding job they can become pretty accurate. Some people might not see the point of spending the extra on a mini when you could have bought an ar for less. But look at it this way after the work is done youll be just as accurate, but with a gun thats alot more dependable and can take some serious abuse and still work flawlessly.

I would like to point out, that i do not own a mini, but that is what i had read on several sites while deciding if i should buy one or not. I soo dont want to be involved in any ar15 vs mini 14 debates.

I don't own a mini but wouldn't mind having one. I shot a friends stock Mini and it was accurate enough.
I do have an AK, also supposedly inaccurate but once again, good enough. I can pick off bowling pins at 150 yards with the original sights. Accuracy is relative to need and since I'm not an Olympic competitor nor a professional sniper I have no need to put all bullets through the same hole at 500 yards or more.

I once had a Mini 14. Stainless, synthetic stock. I love the feel and fit of the gun. Always reliable. But... I could shoot better groups with my handguns... REALLY ! ( 10 " groups at 25 yards -- just awful)
I finally traded for an AR. Ugly, awkward gun, but it shoots like it should ! I'd probably trade my Bushmaster for a Mini that shoots. To me, though, it's kinda like the Easter Bunny.... never seen one... mike |

My 14 Ranch rifle rides in the truck with me everyday. It's more accurate than I am, and will consistly drop Coyotes at 150 yds. It replaced a M1 Carbine, which was also "inaccurate". A fun gun.

I never could get mine to shoot MOA at 100 yards but I traded it for a Bushmaster and don't regret it one bit. Steve48
