OK, granted, I am thinking about SMG length barrels (8-12") as opposed to civilian-minimum "carbine" length barrels. Sometimes I forget that not everyone has access to SBRs...

Thanks for clarifying!

I am no expert, but the physics in the article made sense.

As I read it in Guns magazine last year (or year before) when they were doing the review of the Beretta Storm, it is a question of the type of powder used in handgun cartridges and pressure. The powders used for handgun ammo is fast burning to achieve max pressure quick so the bullet acquires max speed before leaving the barrel. Same cartridge used in a carbine will reach the max speed well before the end of the barrel and presure decreases as the volume in which the gases are contained increases (lenght of barrel.) I don't remember exactly the numbers but they chrony the shots and there was a drop in velocity somewhere in the 15-19% BUT (again, according to the article) the accuracy was greatly improved.

Do you mean the Max potential muzzle velocity lost, or the velocity is lower than a 9mm handgun? The kel Tek forums has many chronograph test posted. They all produce a few hundred FPS faster than the handgun, that sub is compaired with.

I did get the sub so I could swap mags with my Glock. But I think I have CorBons in my Glock ATM. The sub likes heavy rounds.
