It's kind of funny cause all my buddies with nice AR's love shooting my SKS because it is super reliable. I have shot with them many times and my lowly SKS many times has been the only gun that didn't malfuction. Off the bench thier guns are alot more accurate but at our 200 yard range when we are shooting at steel silhouettes I hit as often as most of them and more often than some. So far I have a 86% hit rate at there. Now I am talking about offhand not rested shots. In thier defense though as far as reliability goes they usually shoot 500-600 rounds at a time. Between us we usually put 400-500 through my SKS. When we get together I rarely buy more than a 100-150 rounds because they pick up a buch so they can shoot my gun too. I admit that I would still love to have an AR but my SKS fits my lower class budget just fine.

I'd say you are well armed with your new SKS. Congrats!!

I personally own four SKS's, 2 Norincos and 2 Yugo's.

I only have a 30rd mag on one of the Norinco's, and it is a USA brand(the ONLY brand I've found to be trouble free). The rest utilize the factory 10rd internal mag with stripper clips.

If you don't already own a SKS.............. GIT-U-1!
