MAK-90, new furniture

This is Bridgitte, named for Hong Kong star Bridgitte Lin.
Before:

After:

Set from Tapco
Link

It took just a little bit of work with a folding knife and dremel; 2 pilot holes (bit included) in the stock.

Still to do is a trigger group replacement. No optics for this rifle.

Looks nice. Suppressor came with it? The trigger group is necessary to make it compliant without having all US made magazines, too.

Looks a good conversion ... tho gotta say that wood on the original is delicious!!! I had a Mak90 thumbhole stock I aquired for $5 and used that for some time .. liked the feel of it but sadly it developed a bad split, so back to std trim.

Be interested to know if that change helps shootability too.

Chris - I have a blond thumbhole Mak-90 stock, or maybe you can sweet talk Daddy outta his! His wood is prettier than the typical blond. I think the first DC Member and Moderator that hits 20,000 posts wins the blond stock set.

Daddy - post a range report when you get it out, please.

Probably Richard, having had mine back in std trim some time now - will leave it as is. It suits well and if I do change it might be to something like the Tapco or perhaps an ATI or Choate.

This is now and it ain't bad at all............

Daddy, my Romanian has all Tapco except the buttstock (KVar Warsaw Pact length). So far I am very pleased with the set. I did add the rails and a foregrip.

Chris, have you changed to double hook trigger yet? I tried a Yugo clone the other day that had one and it is smoother than.......(Thinking non-banning simile....not working)... very smooth. That will be my next gift to myself.
Damn gorgeous furniture!

My understanding is the US made parts rule only applies to homemade rifles; this is not.

The muzzle brake is a pin on type also from Tapco. It was installed maybe 3-4 years ago.

I'll probably keep the thumb hole, just in case. It's unbelievably uncomfortable (although attractive) so I would want to strip, contour, and refinish. The grip is way too thick and is squared in the back. The hole doesn't go low enough either. It's impossible to get a proper grip when firing left handed as well.
My real motivations for the furniture:
1. better grip
2. adjustable stock for family use (otherwise I probably would have gone with wood or folding)
3. to piss off certain politicians

For the drilling I deliberately used a low charge battery to limit the speed.

You have an AKlon, all you need is a mallet, elmer's glue and an army pocket knife to fix any problem it may have......if ever

No, that’s incorrect. The US parts count rule definitely applies to your rifle. The reason it had the thumbhole stock to begin with is because it was not allowed to be imported with a pistol grip. You have added parts to it that it was not allowed to have when it was imported so you are required to have the minimum number of US parts on it.
