![]() Hey, Gary... Too bad you're not in Arkansas. Our Air Guard just traded their hot-rod F-16s for A-10s!!!! Then again...we don't have ground hogs...just feral peccaries (razorbacks)...and few places to shoot'em at a decent range. (The darn things keep chargin' after being shot... Sometimes they charge before being shot... Wow...that's adrenaline flow for ya!!!) I reckon that means CAS here is a buddy with a 44mag!!!!! Hmm...ground hogs with a .308 or a HOT .270...sounds like FUN. <POOF!> ![]() Take a few shots for me!! Michael

I ordered a DPMS LR 308B two months ago. I was told it would be 24 weeks for delivery. I just hope that the #@#$^*(^%& in washington don't change the laws about them deadly dangerous assault weapons while I am waiting.
Meanwhile, I am, box at a time, purchasing ammunition; researching riflescopes & mounts, buying reloading dies & bullets for the not soon enough, to be here 308. PS, Gotta buy one of your holsters too Gary, but not for the 308. Roger |

The DPMS rifles are in fact taking a while to deliver. My next door neighbor waited 5 1/2 months from the date of order to get his 308 Panther. It seems like it was worth it though.
He's been shooting mostly South African surplus he got from Ammoman, and it has never given him a moment's problem. The gun seems to me to break down just like an M-4, and while it's heavier than one, it's not too heavy, at least to me. Also, it doesn't seem to recoil much more, being that it is a shorty 308 (relatively speaking, it's a shorty.). I'd go with the DPMS Gary, since you are familiar with the AR style rifle. I think Bob has about $1250 in his rifle altogether, counting his six 20 round mags.

Expensive. They are out of stock and on significant back order, and the basic SR-25 carbine is going for around $3,500. Edited to add: And 20 rd mags are going for $140.00!!!
http://www.impactguns.com/store/kmc_sr25.html Some of the "sexier" models are much, much more...

Ouch!
Now see, I like Knight Arms stuff but at that price I'd wait for Leitner-Wise's 308, or try the POF version. That said, I'm sure they'll sell plenty, even in the civilian sector. B. |
