You're aware of where the term came from, right?

I had something similar happen with my rabidly anti-gun sister in law.

She was talking about how bad those evil assault weapons were and I got my mini14 with the wood stock and 5 round mag out of the safe and asked her if this was a rifle that was OK to own. She reluctantly said yes. I set it on the table, took out a small screwdriver and popped out the trigger group. Then, while she was still watching, I went to the safe and got out a Choate folding pistol grip stock, put the receiver in it and inserted the trigger group. I added a 30 round mag, and then asked her what made this rifle that she was looking at now any more dangerous than the exact rifle she was looking at 2 minutes ago. It was the exact same rifle, it just looked different. Naturally, she didn't have an answer.

Sometimes you just have to beat them at their own game.

Now that's a good one!

How I wish it wouldn't look stupid to do that ON THE SPOT when explaining to the uninitiated. It's amazing how being uninitiated doesn't keep people from being opinionated.
