AK's are great. I have a drum and it is a PITA to load. I only use it with my RPK because of the wieght, the RPK has a bi-pod. Oh! it is fun to make a friend load the drum if they want to shoot. You will get plenty of range time while they struggle with it.

I have a WASR 10 and love it!!!!

I also own a very expensive preban Chinese type 56.

There is a big difference in quality.
But if your looking for a blaster to have fun with at a real good price , you really can't beat the WASR's. they are very reliable. I have yet to have a malfunction with mine and I am at around 2k rounds through it.

I own four AK's and they are all great weapons; always fire, simple to learn and shoot. I believe that is the main attraction - simplicity. I do not recommend an underfolder. They certainly look cool but that folder becomes sloppy after use and I think you will regret it.

That Saiga is sweet! What's the price on those as compared to the AK?

Generally "middle-of-the-road", about $400. Unless things have been changed however, they would not accept standard AK mags. Ahh, but with Dremel, all things are possible...

Fit and finish are better than the WASRs, but if you want an "AK" AK, Arsenal or Veper.

I have an underfolder and I love it. While it's possible that the folding stock might become "loose after some use", it's not an impossible task to tighten it back up again.

My entire setup is as follows

As imported, Saiga .223 delivered with transfer $305

Then I added:

5 US parts $118
3 10 round magazines $60
misc conversion parts $15

Total $498

I've done this over a few months, not all at once.

Works great, my friends love shooting it too.

I'll probably pick up some surefire mags for it, that way I can keep the 10 rounders stock by not grinding down the feed ramp on the front of the mag, which is what you need to do if you install a feed ramp.

I have a Yugo M70AB2 and love it. It's a bit heavy (about 10 lbs with 30-round magazine) but I added a Bulgarian bayonet and a cheap-o sling and it looks great! Here's a pic...

Plus I can launch grenades with it if my neighbors get too noisy!

Cheers! M2
