I also considered picking up an SKS. All but had it in my hand, but decided on a Romy underfolder instead (GP-WASR10).

Then I saw something on Gunbroker I had to have.

And just a shot of the whole group together.

Sorry for the grainy pics. Used my phone.

.... if your looking for a blaster to have fun with at a real good price , you really can't beat the WASR's. they are very reliable. I have yet to have a malfunction with mine and I am at around 2k rounds through it.

I recently put a WASR 10 side folder on layaway myself. How do you like that butt stock as far as stability while shooting? Mine's already equipped with that stock but I'll likely add the matching Galil style handguard and pistol grip from TAPCO if they're durable.
Thanks,
Jack

having faced the AK in combat, I will say this, I am sooooooo glad those fools couldn't shoot. This is the most dangerous gun on the planet in the hands of a competent shooter. IMO of course.

Jack, I really love this set up. This is a complete Tapco set up.
It's very well built, the side folder is very strong and solid. I thought
that after a wile it would get some slop in it, but that hasn't been the case. Unlike a wire type side folder, I can get a good cheek weld with this side folder as well. I'm very happy with it, no complaints here.

You are so right, Although I have not had one shot at me. I know that with practice the AK can be very effective.
If they ever got some discipline and starting doing some real training....... don't tell them that. Hope you didn't take any hits.

Naaaahhhh I only got hit by a good American piece of steel...that got hit by a bad RPG...kinda like dominoes. I have seen what it does, let me tell ya it makes quick work of the SAPI plates, almost a good think it makes such a thud when it hits ya, knocks ya out of the line of fire(hopefully). Great choice for a gun. If it had a little more effective range I think it would be the weapon of choice for the US.

Well i picked up a Gp WASR sidefolder and a spam can of hotshot ammo yesterday. Here are a few pics.

I like it, i wanted a sidefolder and i was REALLY able to look over the 4 we had in the shop and picked the best one. Time to do some blasting tommorrow.

Does your rifle have wood? Im willing to trade mide new tapco out for romanian wood if its in good shape. I like the look of wood alot better.

Mine's still in layaway. The front handguard is wood and I believe the pistol grip is as well.

I just updated mine with a new Kobra Red Dot system a few weeks ago.

I have a Kobra on my VEPR, and love it. I also love being able to easily switch between the Kobra and a POSP scope without loss of zero.
