I use a 870 express supermag for HD. Love it. It has gone bang every time I have pulled the trigger, from bird shot to 3-1/2" 000buck.
Had to refinish the wood stock and forend. Cheap gel stain hid the grain and character of the wood. Looks expensive now that it is refinished with a good stain and high gloss. I personally like the matte finish on the barrel and receiver as opposed to bluing in the more expensive models. JMO Trust in the 870.

I have had a basic 21"Exress(not HD)12ga for over 5 years now. I shoot it alot. Doves, Ducks, Geese, Coyotes, and alot of Clays have fallen to it. The only failure I have had was the stock follower wore out. It was plastic and was worn almost in 2. It still functioned fine but when I switched it over to a speed feed stock and an extended magazine tube, I put in a high visibility\high density follower. The Express is not a cadillac, it's a tank. It eats anything I feed it and it loves Remington Express#4's. Coyote's hate it though. It is the first thing I grab when something goes bump in the night.

No, I would not trust them as much as a Wingmaster or a Police Model. The HD's and Expresses have plastic and MIM parts that the others do not.
