Very nice looking 870, Ti.

The only thing I can see that it might be lacking behind a Police model is the HD springs they come with.
Do you know if the Marine's are "vibra honed"? Or if they use the heavier carrier dog spring, machined ejectors & extractors vs the MIM parts? Does it contain the ISS? Are they built in the LE & Military "special area"?

That is a sharp shottie and maybe worth looking into.

Considering my 870 Express HD Shotgun will rust fast enough that you can almost watch it happen...you've made a great selection! Congrats!

WOW, it is wiered you ask these questions OD, I m asking many of the same ones with Remington right now to double check so I am telling you and everyone correct information.

I have to provide them with a serial number tho and it is being shipped to me as I write this. If I can call the shop I ordered it from and find out I can get answers pretty quick.

So I am giving you an IOU until I can get all th correct info from the source.

Here is what I for sure know for now.

It has the Magnum bbl but is not vibra honed.

No ISS if you are talking about the "Internal Safety System" ISS. Those aparently are only on a certin 700 series rifle at this time.

The trigger group of the XCS is metal/aluminum (?) not polymer and is nickle coated as well as all internal parts are nickle coated. The entire metal on the outside of the gun has a nickle coating just like the satin nickle finish of the original Marine Magnum and then it is coated with the Trinyte. Remington is telling me that she WILL NOT rust inside or out and went to the exteme to make sure it didn't with this one.

The XCS is not built on the LE/Military line but they are built on their own line/area away from the express line and LE both but from what I understand they just have less points to check on them than the LE Police gun's do. So if the Police guns have a 25 point check inspection system and part fitting these MM's have from what Remington say's an 18-20 check point inspection, part fitting, dual finish coating, etc but they are checking to make sure how many steps they do go through in th process for sure.

Still checking on MIM for sure as well as HD springs and I have to provide them the serial number for that. I was joking around with them and said that IF it turns out the ejector and extractor are MIM and the springs are the same as an express that I am sending it back to them! They said if the info turns out that it is MIM and the springs are of the express line quality that they would fix me up with the good stuff to keep me happy.

They also did say that they just don't have any issues with MIM but that at least with the Police line it was just to important for the parts to be MIM. I said well then what am I, chopped liver, not important, what? She laughed and said no, it wasn't that but that the LE line was a standard they have to keep for them to keep buying them.

So the jury is still out with the MIM thing but I can't see it being that way for that kind of money. Time will tell, if it turns out it is MIM then they are going to hook me up.

I will know more later.

Thanks very much, Ti.
I believe the ISS (Integrated Safety System) is the locking safety, most 870s do have them now, the exceptions being LE/GI (but they are a snap to replace).

I have a #4903 coming any-day now, the XCS maybe another option to look at also.

Can't have too many shotguns can ya?

I paid $620.00 for the XCS and from what I can tell that is a fair price for this gun they just didn't take the a satin Marine Magnum and paint it black and call it good. This one is heads above the original from what I have read.

I can't wait to get it in, start checking it out and take it to the range for some punishment.

Ti
Did you ever think you'd shell out THAT much for an 870? I gulped at the price of mine, too!
