I guess this is different! 4G shottie!

Talkin' with an old guy today and the subject of HD cropped up.

His house shottie is an old 4G single (no idea what make) which is I believe about 3 feet long! He loads brass cases with BP and a shot load of 4 ounces!

I tried to imagine the potential for a one shot stop - along with extreme hearing damage and goodness knows what damage to property LOL!

The imagination runs riot! Mention of something like an 870 for the job was countered with - ''don't want one o them new-fangled pumpie jobbies''

Each to his own I guess.

I know - I know!! I was thinking that!

He is not all that local but if I get a chance I'll see if I can get a pic. From description it is as I said single shot - external hammer I am thinking too. I doubt he has a dig' camera and so I'd have to go take pics myself.

Cannon comes to mind as a designation

5-barrel 4 gauge shotguns were used mounted in small boats to hunt waterfowl after punt-guns were outlawed for hunting.

Witness...again, without pics, worthless!

Actually, the owner of Centerfire Systems had one floating around the warehouse a few months ago. I'm wondering if he sold it or is keeping in for sheer novelty (shells have gotta' be a real pain to come by). I think it was in the broken or 'too-crappy-to-be-sold' category...kind of a POS, from my best recollection. I'll ask him if I can take some pictures of the thing if it is still around...

Details forthcoming either way.

The 4 Guage gives a whole new meaning to "kills on one end and cripples on the other"....

I'd hate to explain to the chiropractor why I'm in his office.

I shot a 10 gauge once. "Once" being the key word. I don't even want to imagine a 4 gauge. *shudder*
