I like it too!

The red dot is an Aim Point.

Nah, I'll go IWB with it. All I need is some of those big-ass baggy pants that are "in style" and I should be good to go.

Nice piece!

I got my first AR in October, last year. I didn't think I'd be shopping for another one this soon, but the past few weeks I've been browsing again

Nice little carbine. Can somebody with recent active duty answer some questions of mine?
#1 When did the vertical grips come into fashion and are they standard military issue on the M4?
#2 Is the issue magazine for the infantry a 30rd or a 20rd mag?

I personally don't like the vertical grips because they, like the 30rd mag limit how low I can go....and sometimes...a real low crawl just doesn't seem....low enough.

I also favor the EOTech optics that use standard AA batteries and have an 1100 hour continuous use battery life. That or a ACOG. But that's just me.

One of the reasons I chose the Aim Point was the battery life. It's supposed to get 50,000 hours of use on a single battery. Sure it uses a special one, but I don't see having to change it out for a few years.

50,000 HRS? Continuous use? IOW, if you just left it ON 24/7 it would last 50,000 hrs? 'Cause that's the claim with the EOTech. 11,000 hrs if left on 24/7/365.

Be it known I really don't like the idea of optics that use batteries at all. Mr. MURPHY is just too frequent a visitor for my tastes! That's why I really prefer an ACOG. In about 12 years you'll begin to notice a fading of the reticle with plenty of time to replace. But a battery might just quit without a smidgen of forewarning. Like my SureFire lights. One moment it slightly dimmer....the next push of the tail actuated switch...it's gone. That's why I try and keep spare Lithium batteries everywhere I keep a light.

Okay folks, time for me to get to work. This site has been blocked finally by the filters at work, so I'll see y'all this afternoon, around 1630 EST.

50k hours of continuous use. That's their claim. I'm not sure what setting the claim (mine has something like 7 or 8). I don't even keep it on when I'm not using it, so hopefully I'll get longer than that. But, just in case, I've got a spare battery in the waterproof compartment of the vertical grip. And then there's always the BUIS in case the battery goes in time of serious need (which I hope there never is).

I like the ACOG as well. When I get up the nerve to do a complete build, I may put one on.

Very nice AR! and yes, they do tend to multiply. I've got an AimPoint on one of mine and like it a lot. Still on the original battery I got 3 years ago. An advantage of the AimPoint is no parallax. If you can put the dot on the target, you'll hit it. Doesn't matter which angle you're looking from. So you can even be prone w/ the weapon at 90 degrees and still be able to line up a shot.

30-round mags have been standard for a long time.
