Any down side to tele stock on a shotgun?

For the past few years a winchester defender 1300 has been my home defense gun. After reading a few recent threads on here I came to realize some limitations to the pistol grip stock and I thinking about going full sized. However, I know lots of people are running tele stock these days - is this the way to go? Any draw backs? My house is pretty small with some tight corners.

Here's the one I was looking at: http://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/...-stocks/PM111D

It will add length, where as a folder stock would add much less.

I can never get a good weld on a telestock compared to a regular stock. Thats just me though, you may be just fine with it.

I finally got to try one out today on "our" 870, and I got a pretty good weld on it, I don't find it any different than a carbine, I was kind of worried out having my cheek on a hunk of plastic while shooting slugs, but it felt fine.

Then again, this is me, and other's mileage may vary.

Stock

The one you linked to is good. Some of the other styles (AKA Mossberg) have the shell holder on the stock right next to your face. If you need to shoot lefty, like around a barricade or other left-handed scenario, they are in the way and painful to shoot. Other than that I think they're better than a pistol grip only gun.

Same with me when I tried a tele on my 870. It came back straight in-line with the barrel, and I couldn't make myself like it. A set of ghost ring sights would let you be more heads-up and cure that problem, but with a bead, you have to shrug down too much to be comfortable.

I HATE ghost rings. On a home defense shotgun, gimme rifle type hi-vis sights, or 3 dots.
