Pistol grip shotgtuns are obviously very hard to control under stress, but a lot of folks on here claim to use them and like them for home defense. So, I was wondering:

I don't "carry" my shotgun (Benelli M3 Super 901) around, so much as I practice using it getting around corners, down the hallway...etc.

Usually practice when wife and kids are out of the house...we have our family action plan for break-ins, fire, etc and review or practice regularly.

Not to steal the thread, but why would a pistol grip shotgun be harder to use under stress? Or are you talking about a pistol grip only?

I believe he is talking about pistol grip without a stock

and not pistol grip stock

I personally know of no one who has a pistol grip only shotgun. I am considering a pistol grip shotgun stock but I have wondered if it is any easier to handle then a a standard grip shotgun.

Well, according to the internet I guess I'm an idiot for having a PG - but, for me, in my house, it just works better. I have a small, house with tight quaters, I'm looking for a weapon to work at a max range of 10'. If I need to reach more I have an ak-47.

Never had any trouble shooting the PG at the range - easy to swing, a natural pointers - no big deal.

Got one of them critters also. Starts out with some mild 8 shot for 1 shot, gets considerably larger as I work the pump. I think the last 2 shots are 3" 00 buck. One would think any intruder would be heading out at the first sight of a shot-gun like that.

I don't have a pump, I have the coach gun in 12ga. Still plenty short for going around corners. I only use 00Buck...my first warning shot will remove your heart and lungs...(pretty good warning, huh?).

I do not shoot with it very often, but like a previous poster, I do practice approaching both front and rear entries...just so I know exactly what cover and line of sight I will have...
