Mossy 500 Persuader with pistol grip. Loaded with 3" magnum 00 buckshot, and a SureFire 6P with a 120-lumen bulb attached. And yes, I have "worked" the house several times with it and I am very comfortable knowing it will 'get it done' if and when the time comes...
Cheers! M2 |

The 12ga. Mossberg 500 seems popular. And whadya know, I've got one too.
![]() Mine's an 18in with a Knoxx Spec-Ops stock and side-saddle shell carrier. I'm working on getting a ghost ring rear sight installed and deciding if I actually like the vertical foregrip I threw on it for grins. I've also got a 24in barrel for it with inter-changable chokes, on the off chance it'll ever have to provide feathered dinner.

Have a High Standard Flite King K-121. Bead front, 6-deep. 12 ga. Don't have the heart (or desire) to lay a finger on it as far as modification goes.

Benelli, Nova 12ga loaded with 3" "Dead Coyote" shells, and yes I have gone though my place with the gun on my shoulder, and in the dark several times... Also have a Ruger Deerfield Carbine .44 mag, but i like the 12ga pump better... nothing speaks as loud in the dark as racking a shell in a pump shotgun.

Reason why I ask is that some homes are not condusive to using a longer firearm in. In fact, sometimes the layout of the house could cause a long gun to be a hinderance and put one at greater danger.
Just curious, because so many times I have watched people quote the shotgun as being the "end all" choice for home defense, without any thought or consideration for its applications. Many fine examples of shotguns here, though, and glad to see that those who have them have taken the time to put some thought into their intended applications. Pull the trigger. Shooting from hip is a viable technique with a shotgun. I know some people would probably argue that it is viable with any firearm, but I disagree and that is a different discusion. I learned both ways with a shotgun. Shooting from the hip allows one to "shrink their size" when in a confined space like turning from a doorway into a hallway. Allows for a quicker snap reaction, if you are caught without enough time to bring it up to your shoulder. I have used it in hunting and shooting clays. There are even some competitions that include it as part of the stages. The shotgun is not one of those long guns that is relegated to being fired solely from the shoulder.

I just got a Benelli M4 with an extended tube. Once I clean it from my first round of testing this last weekend I'll load it with 7+1 of TAP LE low recoil OO buck. I may put a Ranger low recoil slug or two in the tube as well.
I have also ordered a one piece extended tube to put on it as I don't like the +2 add on. it came with a light mount on the mag tube so I'm sure i will be getting some kind of light to sling on it as well. |
