For me the AR platform has so many different possibilities its difficult to prioritize them. My current AR 16 inch carbine version, serves a defense role part of the time and is my coyote calling rifle the rest of the time. The change over is as quick as removing the scope and putting on the red dot and that takes about 2 minutes.

At some point I’m going to strictly use the 16 inch for defense and set an 18 or 20 inch upper up for the varmint roll.

My AR was built by a local smith but any of the name brands will serve you well.
