I still have 1907 sling somewhere around here..............LOL.

I still see them on competition rifles from time to time.

But, we're talking about "tactical" slings here.

3 point and single points where the "heat" for a while, but since Boonie Packer and Viking tactics and Blueforce Gear (VCAS) have come around, the two point has made a major swing back into action with some nice mods and additional pul strap to shorten and lengthen the sling when needed.

Good pics by the way.
A simple 2 point strap would do fine for a malf. situation - however, I'd strongly suggest weak side firearm practice and carry. For the longest time I carried everything strong side while CCW'ing - then tried moving everything but the gun to the weak side. Made everything much easier for me, and I still do weak hand drills. So, ideally, you can maintain control of your rifle while drawing and firing with your handgun. Granted, this is coming from somebody who hasn't been in warfare and has only shot IDPA and rifle comps - but it's just a thought. Sooner or later I'd like to try 3 gun matches

Play nicely folks.
Let's help one another out with helpful/useful information and not bonk fellow forum members on the bean.
It's slightly intimidating to newbie members who may have valid questions but, won't ask them for fear of getting "taken down a peg."

We are playing nice - just offering different view points and uses of accessories.

No harm, no foul, and no offense taken by anybody.

I also go old school with a 2-point sling.

I don't like the single & 3s, that leave the weapon hanging in front when you transition to secondary. I prefer the long gun go behind me so it's out of the way & better supported across the back.

Again, it's just personal preference....if I was just starting up now I might be more inclined to go new school.........but ol'dog.....

I was a two point fan, then I bought a Specter Gear 3-point a few years ago for my Benelli. Pretty good sling really and it kept the gun in close when not needed. made transitions easy.

A few moths ago I bought a Blue Force Vickers for my M4 and I'm now sold. Just as functional as the 3 point, but I don't get hung up in it at all. I'm now looking a buying another one for my Benelli.

I like using a loop sling too Jeep45238 - when I get a Garand I'll use one of those nice leather ones on it for sure. On my AR I just want something that will keep it from hitting the ground if I let go without causing too much trouble.

Funny you mention the Benelli. I still have a BHI 3 point sling on my Benelli M1 Super 90. I rarely if ever sling it anymore, so it's not an issue, but If I had to carry and hump the weapon, I'd also go with the Vickers VCAS sling.

Might have to give the new 2 point another try here in the future. I used a three point for quite a bit, but like alot of others found it to be a major pain with setting up my kit. Once you got your kit set up where you could get to everything and threw on your long rifle, now you couldn't actually get at half your mags sitting on your chest. Been using a single point from Tactical Link (Tactical Link Products) namely the Stealth Universal. I was originally a little bit scared of the hefty price tag, but after extensive use I have really liked their product, and also picked up their Infidel version allowing me to integrate it right into my body armor. If I don't have my armor on, I can just snap into my old sling with no problems... no worrying about resizing etc. Again, probably a bit higher than most people would want to spend on a sling and sling mount, but I have very little but good things to say about it. Hopefully someone picks up the aforementioned 2 point so I can do a good comparison with and without kit.

I just got my 2 point Blue Force Gear VCAS sling in the mail today - I got the one with the sewn in QD points instead of the buckle. It works exactly like a 3 point, but with half the webbing and buckles. If you have used a 3 point and like them, I'd look into one of the 2 points out there (Viking Tactics, Gear Sector, or BFG VCAS).
