Without looking at the vid because it would probably take a hour on my slow dail up, I'm asking is a AK jamming the norm or abnorm. In my experience its the abnorm and thats why there is a vid of this happening. Like I said I didn't get a chance to look at the vid so there may be more to this.

It is not uncommon. Certainly not as uncommon as some believe. Whether or not that makes it the norm, I do not know.

Its an Ansar Al-Sunnah propoganda video and I think it is safe to assume they were videotaping their valiant fight against the infidel rather than the oddity of an AK malfunction.

Lol, at least he cleared it decently fast I guess.

Their marksmanship skills are hilarious. Forgot about how bad it was over there. Imo, probably like Pallywood, there was no one down the street they were shooting. Just pretending to be attacking the dirty Americans.

AK jams are very few and far between AK haters notwithstanding. I had my WASR for 2.5 years, cleaned it when I bought it and 2 weeks ago, put some 2000+ rounds through it and I had exactly 3 jams and 2 of those were related to the bad mag spring.

I'am talking about in combat, not range shooting.

I don't believe the AK's reliability reputation is all that it's made out to be. I've owned two and neither were the impervious weapon we hear so much about.

Well, I never been in combat so I could not tell you what happens there, but as far as shooting in competition like we do every month down here, I can attest that my $350 WASR outlasts many $1,000+ ARs before jamming, stovepiping, FTE or coming apart.

But to avoid further discussions and bruised egos, let's say that AR will jam 100 time more than an AR.

Yes, I have seen combat, Nam. I also shoot some three gun matches too. To me it would seem most weapon jams are people screws-ups. I seen AK's screw-up in Nam, and big time M16's too. Now at matches, again people have screws ups because of mags, ammo and the big one not cleaning their weapon. Because the AK's & AR's are real polular, everone is putting together weapons, lot of them work and some not so well. Today if I went to combat as 22 year old again, I would still take the M14 or FNFAL. The M14 never let me down in the real world. Time to step off the soap box.

combat wise i personaly haven't seen either jam. i realise that it does happen but just like an M14 or a FAL you simply need to perform basic PMCS to prevent much of it. feel free to inspect my gear you won't find a mag with a weak spring, or crud on any moving parts just a lot of clp on anything that needs to be well lubed.
