Securing my shotgun...

I recently bought 2 small gun safes, one for upstairs and one for down. They each house Glocks for home defense. I also have a 12-ga pistol-grip shotgun underneath the bed. My son just turned one and is crawling (almost walking) and very curious. I feel very confident with the safes, but I have not come across a good way to safely secure the shotgun while providing me quick access in case of an "incident". Any ideas?

you could get a wall mounted safe and either mount it in the closet or under the bed (empty chamber) for decent access. Young kids are the hardest to keep a gun ready around. Also I have seen a lifejacket lock that would work.

Hoss - for now at least I'd say height is your friend - and so perhaps place gun high up - on a shelf or whatever suits - close enough to where wanted.

Once another year or two pass tho then you'd have to rethink - and I doubt it is ever easy.

I am just relieved I no longer have such considerations to worry about!

The Mossberg Locbox is a good alternative I believe: relatively quick access yet can be relatively secured. One can leave the lock unlocked yet still have the weapon mounted in it while you're close by; and locked for when you're not.

It's attached into studs with some fairly serious screws, and the mount itself is decent steel. It can be mounted just about anywhere including concealing it behind curtains, horizontally inside a closet over the door, etc. (Not for shotguns with receiver mounted shell holders however.)

Remember, we're speaking of relative security here, which all our choices are. This will not stop a determined individual with time, tools and alot of strength from getting it, but it does offer relative security for the rest.

YMMV. I do have one, but my shotguns are my goto after a pistol on my person, so oftentimes they remain in my modest safe.
