My next gun is going to be a shotgun

I am going to get a shotgun for home defense . I looked at the Remington Police Magnum with extension $550 and the Mossberg 590A1 20" barrel $395. Both had standard synthetic stocks and bead sights. My first impressions are that I like the location of the controls better on the Mossberg , but if I put a pistol grip stock on them my opinion might change , I don't know. I liked the shorter barrel on the Remington better. They both cycled the same to me. I am leaning more to the Mossberg , only because of price. I just got a $600 bonus check , is the Remington worth $155 more than the Mossberg ?
After I decide , what stock would you get , it doesn't have to be a pistol grip , but it does have to be adjustable and what light would you put on it? As always , pictures are a bonus.

They are both great shotguns. If money is no object get the 870P. I have a Mossy500 7shot 20" that was about $225 and has never let me down and I am not scared to abuse it. I also have a Remington Wingmaster for hunting that has also preformed flawlessy, but I treat it like a queen. I do love Remington's if they are the right models and the police version is very nice.

Pay no attention to the title, unless you plan on reading the entire thread. To save my fingers a little grief, read post #16. It might help you out a little bit.

I've had both, but only the Mossberg now. You cant go wrong either way. But like you I would go with the lesser and by a lot of ammo.
