6-9" is what most people get for the ARs. Try getting in the prone with ruler and check it out for yourself - you may prefer the taller one.

I have a harris mounted on my H&R single shot
17hmr rifle and love it being there if I need it. Not sure what size you should get though at least you are getting quality equipment |
