I hear Corbon DPX is very effective in an M1 Carbine.

I'm going to get a couple of boxes of DPX, I'll zero with 5 rounds and then put 15 in a mag.

Either the Winchester 110gr or Remington 110 gr soft round noses would work great for home defense. 110gr expanding bullet @ 1900/2000 fps. Light short carbine low sound signature and low recoil. Whats not to like?

need to keep looking.
I passed one up last year I found on GunBroker. Turns out the guy lived two miles away! No FFL, no shipping. Had a tiger stripe natural stock. It was a steal. No really, it was. I've been kicking myself ever since.

The M1 carbine has never been known for its accuracy or stopping power. There are much better choices out there.

Fine rifle.
Sorry but, I still think nothing beats a short riot barreled 12 pump shotgun for home defense though.
That shotgun will always be my #1 choice for a HD firearm.

As far as accuracy goes, I can shoot the bullseye out of a target at 50 yards with one, and I'm no great shot with iron sights. At HD distance, it is plenty accurate. As for stopping power, not as good as a full power rifle, but with non-FMJ it is much better than almost any pistol. Shotguns are better at stopping, but if you miss the recovery time is a lot higher than the carbine. As far as that goes, you can get more aimed fire faster with the carbine than a larger caliber rifle or a large caliber pistol.
But to each his own.

the .30 cal carbine round has approx the same energy as a .357. the problem is the same as .223 ball ammo lacks good energy transfer. using hollowpoints you will have decent stopping power. beyond that quick and accurate shot placement are your best freinds as always.
