Finally bought a shotgun

I finally bought a shotgun today. Picked up a Maverick88 12ga from wally world. Got the gun, 100 shells, and a gun sock for it for less than $215 including tax. I have to get a 18.5" barrel for HD use though, the 28" barrel is l o n g!! Sorry, no pics(my camera is broke) but you all know what it looks like by now. Any suggestions for a shorter barrel?? Thanks.keith.

You can get that barrel just about anywhere. Combathunting.com is one place I have been looking at, as well as maverickarms.com.

Gunbroker for the short tube , or here for that matter just be patent . what ever you do dont " bubba " a barrel . IMHO one day your original shotgun will be important . Hell i have 3 cut down ( all legal ) model 12 Winchesters from back in the day that a used one was worth less than a keg of beer .

barrel

My opinion, if you plan on using it just for a HD gun just have it cut. We charge between $20 and $40 depending on what sight option you want installed. You could even have a night sight installed if you like for a bit more. It's just a Maverick, don't stress too much about it. Good solid HD gun yes. Future museum piece....Doubtful.

I'd think about chopping it myself. Replacing the front sight bead or something else would be another matter, but I could probably do that too with the right drill and tap.

I was planing on maybe shooting a few clay birds on occasion. It looks like I can get the whole new barrel for about $85. Thanks!

You can pick up that barrel atMB90015-MOSSBERG 500 BARREL 12GA 18-1/2" CYLINDER BORE BLUED for about $67.

I just bought a Mossberg from a guy in town and I need the shorter barrel too.
