M1 Garand - Got one! Lots of pictures!

Man, do I love a good gun show!

Got this M1 Garand at the SAXET show here in San Antonio. This one was manufactured by HRA in 1954. Since it never got humped through the wars, it's in really good shape. It was originally sold through the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

I have always wanted one of these! Now I've just got to score some 30.06 ammo.

Here are several views, along with its buddy, the M1 Carbine, by Rock-Ola.

Nice wood on those rifles...I had to buy a new stock and front handguards due to the previous owner's abuse. Now I shoot mine twice a year...Memorial Day and 4th of July (at a range, of course!).

I recently got a Garand through the CMP, what a great-shooting rifle. It lives up to its reputation. It is a big rifle, my hat's off to those GI's that humped it during WWII.

A very exciting post! What a nice example! Great wood on that rifle! The M1 is one tough, accurate, and reliable work horse. So nice to see your great photos.

Great little Carbine too!

I think I did okay on it, considering the condition: $825 out the door.
