Cheapest AR-15

I am looking for the cheapest AR I can get. I wanna pick one up at the next gun show. I'd like to stay under $1000 if possible.

What is the bottom of the barrel AR

ie. the WASR-10 is one of the cheapest AKs

Thanks

You should be able to get something pretty decent for $1000....definitely way above "bottom of the barrel". I, personally, prefer to build my own. Putting together an AR15 is rediculously easy. Buy a lower, parts kit, and stock and order a complete upper from CMMG or one of the other good vendors and you are good to go. AR-15.com is a good resource.

Under a grand? I don't think you'd be happy at all with the "cheapest AR-15". Leave those for the panic buyers.

Good question..Most others call theirs a rifle, or carbine. Your post will generate enough research for you to spend some time on here shortly. Don't 'jump the gun'.

Its called a "plinker" because it isnt built to specs designed for accurate defensive or offensive use. Its cheaply put together for those that just want to "plink" some rounds downrange at plates.

For $1000 you can have a much nicer rifle.

Why don't you just buy Sammy's for $600?

WTS: DS AR15, Kel-tec SU16CA, and other .223 Accessories (KY)

Shipping and FFL transfer shouldn't cost you more than a $100.

Then you will have $300 left over for ammo.

And if you do it, then I will quit drooling over it and no longer be tempted to buy it.

You can get a quality AR rifle for under 1000 dollars. I bought my Smith & Wesson M&P15 for 995 brand new. I believe STAG, Olympic, and DPMS all can be had for under a grand. Or you can build your own for under 800.

Buy yourself a Complete AR Lower made by Stag or DPMS.
This will cost about $300 from an FFL Dealer.

Then shop around online for a Complete Upper.
These can be bought directly (no FFL )

There are many choices for a cost of $400 and up.

Do a search for stripped lowers online. Someone somewhere always seems to have a sale for $90-$100. Go pay a local pawn shop $25 to do the transfer. Then go to Model 1 sales online and pick out a CAR rifle kit for $460. This gets you a complete carbine, flattop or A2, your choice, for right at $600.
