I have a nearly new winchester 1300 12 ga. shotgun I bought 35 years ago (I was 18) and I was thinking of putting a short barrel and stock on it, however, I wouldn't spend to much to do it, because I saw a brand new remington ( model 8--? police model) today for 350 bucks.

My winchester probably has about 200 rounds through it and looks like new and is my 1st firearm, so, either way I keep it.

Any suggestions on where to purchase a barrel and stock would be appreciated.

If you saw a 870 police model for 350 you should buy it. Are you sure it wasnt an express?

Anyway, 1300 barrels can be had anywhere, Try some of the bigger gun parts stores online, such as Brownell's.

It is a model 870, however, the price is $329, not $350.

OK, thats an 870 Express, not an 870 Police. $329 is still a very fair price for it.

Make sure you do not get the defender barrel unless you have a defender shotgun, otherwise the mounting ring will not line up correctly, unless you change out the mag tube as well.
1200 series barrels are interchangable with the 1300, but you loose the ability to fire shells larger than 2 3/4 shells. At least that is the case with everyone I have seen.
